Not What You Want

Dig Me Out, "Not What You Want"

This one is less complex yet faster than most  It reminds me of "The Drama You've Been Craving" in speed and great sounding riffs.  They are more Sleater-Kenny'ized rock riffs than S-K signature riffs.  Still, both Riff 1 and Riff 2 do a little S-K twist between the first two and second two bars.

I think this song illustrates the precision of guitar 2 that's present in most S-K songs.  You can certainly play all 8th notes but Corin doesn't on the recordings.  The precision add's a lot the rhythm.  It's a great song even if you play 8th notes.

  • Quarter note = 196 or so.
  • Standard tuning.  Riff 1 would be easier to slide if you tune down.
  • Tabbed where it felt good on the fretboard but there are alternatives.
  • These images a pretty big.  I hope you can be patient for the graphics to load.  (They aren't that big.
