Hello Mackenzie,

I am a documentary filmmaker in New York City.  You have been kind enough to answer questions in the past, several years ago when I was working on a film about the USS Indianapolis for the Discovery Channel.  I am finishing a film on the Baltic Sea tragedies at the end of WWII  (for National Geographic), namely the sinkings of the Gustloff, Steuben and Goya.  We launched expeditions to the sites last year with Dr. Bob Ballard and some of the survivors.

I am trying to get some cold hard numbers on operation Hannibal.  I've read "The Cruelest Night" and "Crabwalk" and looked on a myriad of websites... but haven't had much luck.  So I thought I'd see if you
could help.  Here  are my questions:

- How many refugee ships sailed?
- How many trips were made?
- How many people got out?
- How many people were left behind?
- How many people died trying?
- How many ships sunk?

Thank you!!
Best regards,
Erica
