Folks believe the key to renting on the Internet is getting on top of search engine results.  Me too.  But it's not the only way folks will know about your house.  Word of mouth and print advertising play a role too.  If you are fortunate and a surfer finds your house on the web, you want your site to provide the information the surfer wants.

I performed a search at Google.com on January 10, 2003 to find out how folks might find a place at Alligator Point, Florida.  I searched for "vacation rental alligator point" and then "alligator point vacation rental."

There is a message in here somewhere.  It's probably about where to list your rental ad if you have a property at Alligator Point.  What about Hilton Head, Grayton, Pensacola, and St Simon's? Try the search for yourself and have some sympathy for the vacationers: There are way too many places for them to look.  Most folks will probably stop before looking at 30 Google results.
