News & Talk-1380 WAOK-AM afternoon host, Rob Redding - "America's Independent Voice," hosted a debate for the candidates of the newly created 13th U.S. Congressional District. The debate took place during a live broadcast in the atrium of The Mall West End, Saturday, May 11th from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
William Coit, State Sen. Donzella James, and David Worley attended the event.
William Coit said that whoever emerges out of the Republican primary would need to reach out and capture a sizable portion of the Democrat and Independent vote to win the general election. My campaign is in the best position to do that. We have been reaching out at various events to capture the African-American and Hispanic vote with a message of inclusion. Our compassionate conservative message is starting to resonate with the voters.
William Coit mentioned to the listeners of WAOK that he represents a new generation of leadership that's ready for the torch to be passed. Second, he is not a politician. He's a citizen who's feed up with the political process. He warned voters to not be fooled by the slick advertising commercials that say nothing or the politicians that come before you year after year promising everything and delivering nothing.
William Coit responded to a question about Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney's accusation against President Bush by saying that the Congresswoman should produce some factual evidence. She should present this information to the American public. If no information exist, a formal apology to President Bush is warranted. We need responsible leaders in Washington who will not divide the nation along racial lines.
William Coit responded to a question about Israel by saying he supports the right of Israel to defend itself against attacks by terrorist. Additionally, President Arafat must denounce the suicide bombings and begin to negotiate in good faith with the people of Israel. William mentioned that he is tired of seeing the violence on both sides and wants peace to occur.
