How to find the gas main

10/2/2007

The gas main broke yesterday. While boring from the telephone pole to 1273 Reeder the boring folks ripped open our new gas main. Last year, they broke it putting in our new water main.

Trouble is, the old metal gas main is still in the ground and it's easy to find. The new gas main is plastic and not so easy to find. Anyway, once you've found one, why keep looking?

So the gas main broke and they had to dig up our new paving to fix it. It cost the borers a day, the gas folks a day, and the grader a day.

I hope this page will stay around until the next dig.

In case we need to find it again. The old gas main is under the curb. The new one is under the street.

The amazing boring machine.
