About MLPA's Public Safety Committee
William C. Lindsey 670 Greystone Park, NE, 30324
404-870-9977
The Public Safety Committee's primary responsibility is the oversight of the Morningside Security Patrol (MSP), often referred to as the Morningside Patrol or the Security Patrol.
The Patrol augments our regular City police services and is a benefit to the entire neighborhood, not just MSP members alone. Therefore we urge all who are not members to join and support the work of the Patrol and help to expand our services to you.
Often we coordinate our efforts with the Atlanta Police Department's (APD) Zone 2 or other appropriate arm of the APD. At times we may follow-up on crimes on the behalf of our members. But by no means is MSP meant to be a substitute for, or take the place of, calling 911 and our regular APD services.
We also coordinate police services with MLPA events such as the Annual Celebration of Summer and the Tour of Homes.
At times we are involved with other public safety issues such as public health and fire safety. For example, we have gotten Fulton County health officials involved with our neighborhood's concerns over the West Nile Virus and have worked with our City Council Representative to repair fire hydrants that have been knocked over by careless drivers.
We often coordinate with other MLPA committees on issues of traffic and pedestrian safety, and safety in the Parks. However, MLPA's Traffic Committee has primary responsibility for traffic and traffic enforcement issues in our neighborhood and our Parks Committee has primary responsibility for our Parks.
